William Makepeace Thackeray (1811–1863) was a British author and novelist mostly known for his satirical works such as «Vanity Fair» that showed an ironic representation of the British society of those times. «The Book of Snobs» is a collection of many satirical works originally written by Thackeray in 1848 for Punch magazine. It is a humorous study that starts with the statement that «Snobs are to be studied like other objects of Natural Science».
