The textbook outlines the main issues of general pharmacology. From the standpoint of the achievements of modern science, the most important problems of pharmacokinetics are highlighted: the intake of medicinal substances into the body, distribution, deposition, interaction of medicinal substances. The analysis of the individual characteristics of the organism and its condition for the manifestation of the action of drugs (age, gender, pregnancy, lactation, genetic factors) was carried out. The issues of chronopharmacology, side effects of drugs, principles of treatment of acute poisoning are outlined. The concepts of alternative and traditional medicine, “orphan” medicines, biologically active additives, information about the use of medicines for non-medical purposes are given. The nomenclature and principles of classification of medicines are considered. The textbook has been prepared in the discipline “Pharmacology” in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard of Higher Education for students of medical and pharmaceutical universities of all specialties and areas of training.
